Emotion Classification

The graphic to the left shows a dashboard that Dr. McKenna et al. developed as part of a project to assess U.S. Army squad dynamics. The work involved:

• Real-time communication, tracking, and transcription
• Voice analytics including semantic and sentiment analysis to inform squad dynamics
• Tone (emotion) classification

The soldiers’ tones over time are shown in the upper-right of the display. Tone was classified as either forceful, neutral, or positive. Classification was performed by an AI algorithm (convolutional neural net).
